SPARK Seminars

Parent training for child safety and
self-defense, from toddler to teen.

Our seminars are designed to help families become...

SAVVY PARENTS
who make abuse prevention part of their family's education
AND RESOURCEFUL KIDS
who are well-versed in safety skills and know when, how, and whom to ask for help

Our seminars teach parents strategies to protect their children from abuse, molestation, or abduction by strangers or acquaintances.

"Safe Kids in an Uncertain World" is designed for parents of preschool or elementary-age children.

"The Paradox of Parenting" covers the same child-protection topics, emphasizing the need for parents to define safe boundaries for middle-schoolers while giving them room to grow.

Parents are the cornerstone of our protection strategy. When parents become educated about child self defense, they can effectively share and reinforce skills with their children as needed. All of our strategies are designed to increase a family's capability and confidence, and decrease anxiety.

About Amy Tiemann, Ph. D., President of SPARK Seminars

Amy Tiemann has been an educator for over 10 years. After receiving her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Stanford University in 1996, her love of teaching led her to spend three years as a high school science teacher. Her experiences teaching psychological self-defense strategies to her students, as part of her "Brain and Behavior" class, fueled her interest in starting SPARK Seminars. An energetic advocate for parents as well as children, she is also the founder of MojoMom.com, an online resource that encourages women to develop as dynamic individuals as well as Moms.

As president of SPARK Seminars, Dr. Tiemann is committed to using her teaching talents to train parents to become child safety experts. Her core beliefs are that all children deserve to grow up in a safe and supportive environment, and that families can acquire and reinforce skills that will allow children to move through the world with enhanced safety and confidence.
